Brian Levy, is a nationally recognized casting director and has been for over twenty five years. Based in Toronto and partner in the casting firm Leach & Levy, Brian casts extensively for commercials, television movies, series and feature films.   Brian has a long history of teaching on-camera audition technique to beginners and seasoned professionals throughout Canada.  He currently is on the faculty at Seneca College’s Acting For Film and Television program and sits on the Industry Advisory board for Humber College’s film and television program.

This workshop is designed to help performers truly understand the in’s and outs of the audition process. Brian has been teaching his acclaimed audition workshop for over ten years to enthusiastic support from both actors, and talent agents. He de-mystifies this process with proven results in one session:

  • A realistic understanding of acting for the camera
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the audition process
  • Save time and resources, achieve winning results
  • Build confidence, and get noticed

Brian watches experienced actors fail in auditions daily, many of them fail for reasons that have very little to do with their ability as an actor and everything to do with not truly understanding the audition process. Actors will learn:

Image description
  • How to be aware of the camera in the audition studio and understand it’s power.
  • How to bring in a level of performance from the first take that gets you noticed.
  • How to compete effectively in audition
  • How to make the very most of your audition investment.

You spend time and resources to get to an audition! Even if you are not cast, the experience should be beneficial.

Brian will teach you how to make auditioning a positive experience.

IS THIS A WORKSHOP OR JUST A LECTURE?

  • No. This is an active on-camera workshop. Participants will have the opportunity to work twice on camera. The workshop begins with an active discussion about the industry, audition and how the process really works. Participants will be shown the point of view from the Casting Director side of the table, including:

    • How agents submit talent
    • How casting selects talent for audition
    • What the very real odds of getting cast are
  • Questions, comments and observations are expected, encouraged and welcome throughout the workshop.
  • Scenes are from real projects Brian has cast from both commercials and television projects. Participants will be sent scene scripts/sides prior to the workshop.
  • Once all have worked on camera we review and compare the first and last takes. This is always fun as you will be able to see in very real time where you started and what a casting director expects you to bring into the room, from the first take.
